ARTIST'S STATEMENT 2011
Although a lot of my work has been representational and I love to teach traditional drawing and painting, I feel that the very meaning of creativity lies in doing abstract work. I personally feel that dealing with subject matter objectively helps to establish a meaningful sense of vision.
This collection of paintings culminates from the last three years of drawing, painting, teaching and doing commissions. I believe that setting up an environment, keeping the studio functional, and drawing from my past experience is a way that the creative spirit matures.
It is my vision to create a greenhouse effect so that art can flourish from the heart and from the soul. I believe it is by developing a positive attitude, having faith and being courageous that one can afford to take the liberty to bring about original and authentic pieces of work.
If you are interested in purchasing any of my work, I am grateful that you are providing it a good home. For me each piece is like one of my offspring. Like a child, someday it will take on a life of its own. Each piece is a reflection of life in the studio. Each one has some connection with the creator in me and through me. If you seek creativity, I hope you find it valid and present in my work.
